There are 4 suits in the Minor Arcana. Each suit stands for an element. Wands stand for Fire, Swords for Air, Cups for Water and Pentacles for Earth. Each element, in turn stands for different aspects of energies, thoughts, emotions and events. The actions of the person/persons on the card, combined with the aspects of each element conveyed within a suit convey the meanings of the Minor Arcana cards.

During the olden times, mass production of tarot cards was not possible. They used to be hand-painted. With the invention of love psychics the printing press, they came to be produced on a larger scale. Antoine Court, formerly a Protestant pastor initiated the interpretation of tarot. In 1781, he wrote a speculative history describing the use of these cards for divination. Gypsies were among the first ones to use tarot cards for divination purposes.

The Crown is the fifth card, representing knowledge and wisdom. This will reveal the perception of the person about the situation or problem. This goes directly above the first card. To the right of the first card is the Future. This can reveal the events that will occur, mainly caused by the past and the present. The Questioner (seventh card) and the House (eighth card) will reveal the opinions of both yourself and the people surrounding you, mainly friends and family. The ninth card is called the Inside, for it will reveal what you secretly hope and fear about the current situation. This card is very personal. Finally, the tenth card is the Outcome, representing what will happen next. It can also be a fair warning to the individual.
